| Weather and climate conditions in Florida The ‘Sunshine State’ is a year round destination. The weather in Orlando is characterised by very hot and humid summers, usually with heavy rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The winters are warm, with less rain. But whatever time of year you visit you can expect long hours of sunshine. See chart below with typical averages. |
Spring : - (March – May)
The temperatures in Florida are in the upper 80’s, and lows possibly in the 50’s (night). There’s plenty of sunshine, but some
spring showers. You should be comfortable in swim wear, shorts and light clothing for the day and a light sweater for the cooler
evenings.
Summer : - (June – September)
Typical Florida daily temperatures can be in the 90’s. Rain and thunderstorms are common late afternoon, but usually last no
more than an hour. Why not take a break from the theme parks in the afternoon, return to the villa or visit the shopping malls,
then go back to the park in the evening to view the shows and fireworks. A high factor sun cream is recommended during these
months.
Autumn : - (October – December)
Still plenty of Florida sunshine with highs in the 80’s and lows in the 60’s. This is ideal weather for those who don’t want the
extreme heat of the summer.
Winter : - (December – February)
The Florida winter temperatures are cooler, but can still be in the 70’s during the day with low temperatures in the evening around
the mid 50’s. You will still need swim wear and light clothing, but take sleeved clothing or jackets for the cooler evenings. The
native Floridians will be noticeable for their ‘warm winter clothing’ but it’s more like spring/early summer weather for those of us
from the UK or cooler climes.
